“We had a fantastic opportunity to see and handle some amazing rainforest and grassland creatures last week! Many of the creatures were brilliantly camouflaged which helps to keep them safe from predators high up in the tree canopy or down on the forest floor among the dead leaves and sticks! With wide eyes and even wider smiles we watched as a scorpion and a python crawled across the classroom floor! We even had a chance to stroke the tarantula’s legs, they are incredibly soft! The millipede’s legs felt tickly and a little scratchy! A huge thank you to Guy from bugsnstuff and Miss Hill for organizing such a special event!"

Teacher, St. Philip Neri Catholic Primary School.

"Guy came into our school for two days as part of our Science Week to work with all of our children from nursery up to year 6. His workshops were fascinating, interactive and had the kids enthralled! They loved seeing all of the different insects and animals he brought in and were over the moon to be able to touch them! Guy was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and great with the children. We'd love to have him back at our school!"

Helen Wood-Mitchell, Year 4 teacher, West Walker Primary School.

"Thank you so much for today. Another well loved day by all! The children were buzzing after their sessions and when I was working with the reception children this afternoon, they remembered so many of the facts about the creatures! The teachers all agreed that it is such a fab visit. Thank you so much and hope to see you again! With thanks to you but more importantly to your gorgeous many legged friends!!"

V. Michell, Teacher, Oakfield Infants.

"This week at Acomb court there was the pitter patter of tiny feet, in fact over 200 tiny feet as a millipede introduced himself to our residents. The millipede was accompanied by several of his friends including a lovely little tarantula called Joanne, a friendly sleepy snake called Jesmond, several lizards and strange insects, all visiting us from the education company 'Bugs'N'stuff'. Guy Tansley entertained our residents for an hour and a half with his scaly friends and most of our residents even got to stroke one of the softest things in the animal kingdom - a tarantulas leg! Guy showed the residents the animals up close, giving us lots of interesting and weird facts some of which had our residents mouths dropping open in surprise and challenging every thing we thought we knew about the animal kingdom. The residents loved the session, asking if Guy would be returning soon to do it all again! Even some of the staff were brave enough to take part!"

Eilidh Storey, Activities Co-Ordinator, Acomb Court, Helen McArdle Care.

“A fantastic, hands-on experience for the children in Year 5. It really gave a kick-start to our topic. A range of exotic minibeasts, supported by an obvious expert in the field who pitched his communication at the appropriate level.”

Teacher, St Clare's Primary School, Middlesbrough.

“Dear Guy, I write to you on behalf of all the children and staff at Fulwell Infants, to thank you for your contribution to our Science Week activities. The children enjoyed every aspect of your visit, asking lots of questions afterwards. Your contribution was amazing and we recognise it is no mean feat to hold the attention of 100+ children (under the age of 6) for a period of time, whilst delivering important messages in a way they will certainly remember!"

Head Teacher, Fulwell Infant School.

"Thanks for organising such a wonderful time for Naveen's party on Saturday. The boys loved the insects and reptiles and are still talking about it! Your delivery was pitched just right and kept everyoneenthralled!"

"Thank you for a fantastic session with our 3 Key Stage One classes this morning. They all thoroughly enjoyed listening to you share your knowledge about the creatures you brought with you and the chance to get up so close to them! They didn't stop talking about it all day and I am sure it is something they will remember for a very long time. You were great with the children and very patient. However I must confess I am still not too sure about spiders!! Finley commented that his mum wouldn't believe he had stroked a spider!!"

KW, Mowbray First School.

“Thank you so much for yesterday. Daniel had a fantastic party ("the best one ever", he said). Everyone, including the adults, really enjoyed seeing and learning all about the deadly and amazing creatures you showed. Daniel was both amazed and fascinated with all the incredible bugs, lizards, snakes and scorpions. How many kids get to say they had poisonous dart frogs, a royal python, the world’s biggest spider from South America and scorpions that glowed under UV light at their party?! We were so pleased with his party you did last year we decided for 'animal mad' Daniel no other party could top bugsnstuff. Daniels friends were all so desperate to get invited this year, we ended up with a house full to burst! They couldn't wait to see what you would show them and they definitely weren't disappointed! Thank you so much for making his 9th and 10th birthday parties so memorable for Daniel and all his friends!”

Alison, Cramlington.

"bugsnstuff recently visited Saltwell Park and the session was fantastic for the children who attended. The little ones were so excited to be up close and personal with such beautiful and amazing animals. Guy was such an inspiring and enthusiastic host that the children were able to learn a great deal as well as having lots of fun. If you’re children are interested in wildlife I would definitely recommend bugsnstuff.com. Not only was the session quality educational entertainment, but, more importantly, it was obvious that the animals were treated with respect and great care."

Kelly Anderson, Education and Interpretation Officer.

"Just wanted to thank you so much for the amazing party today. Daniel and his friends are still talking about all the great and unusual bugs they saw and touched. As you know Daniel is bug mad and this whole party was perfect for him, we are really pleased to have found you and so grateful to you for helping make his 9th birthday a truly special one."

Alison, Cramlington.

"Completely Awesome! bugsnstuff was without doubt the best party I have ever had, don't know who enjoyed it more, the kids or the parents?! Guy pitched his talk perfectly for the group of 10/11 years olds, they were completely engrossed in the session. The mix of information and handling of the 'bugs' was superb. A priceless experience that we'll all never forget!"

Nicola, Cullercoats.

"I was really impressed with your presentation and I know the children thoroughly enjoyed it, they were full of it after you'd left! I know there are a couple of members of staff that are wanting to book you in at some point this academic year so I'm sure they'll be in touch."

E. Jones (Teacher, Durham).

"Thanks again for your brilliant workshops on Tuesday, the children loved it and were buzzing all afternoon about it!! Thanks also for the PowerPoint - I will show that to the children next week when we continue our work on habitats!! I will let you know about future bookings as all the teachers were very impressed!”

L. Bond (Teacher, Gateshead).

"Guy made the session very appropriate for the age range (nursery/reception) and had a positive and humorous manner with the children. They developed their curiosity and were motivated to ask questions, write, paint, draw and build the creatures they met, both in the classroom afterwards and at home. The children were engaged, engrossed, excited and interested and in the safe environment of the school they were able to confront their fears and come out of their comfort zones. It was brilliant that children could meet exciting creatures they know and ones they never could have believed existed (the leaf insect)! Overall, great hands-on experience of real creatures!"

The Teachers of West Lane Primary School, Winlaton.

"I would have no hesitation in recommending the bugsnstuff workshops. Guy was knowledgeable and passionate about the creatures and ensured that all the children who wanted to had the opportunity to handle them and learn all about their habitats at the same time."

The Teachers of Plawsworth Road Infant School.

"Thank you so much for today. All the children, from all year groups, were buzzing – you and the bugs were amazing!!!"

Teacher, Hylton Castle Primary School.

"We all really enjoyed your visit and both the staff and children were very impressed. If we cover the topic again next year we will definitely be inviting you back! Thanks for a wonderful visit!"

Teacher, Ravenswood Primary School.

"Thank you so much for the sessions last week. They were a huge success. You were brilliant with the kids and my group certainly responded extremely well to you, so thank you. I heard from the other classes too that it went down well with their groups too!"

R. Hogg, Teacher Keelman's Way School.

"Guy managed to keep 34 Brownies and leaders entertained  for over an hour by Zoom which is no mean feat! We loved meeting all of his creatures (of which there were many), laughing and learning. Who knew scorpions glow in the dark or that stick insects love to wave at the camera?! Guy was extremely patient with the Brownies and even stayed longer than we'd booked him for to answer all their questions. We wouldn't hesitate to book him again in the furture!"

Lucy Harris.

"What a CREEPY day we have had! A huge huge thankyou to Guy at bugsnstuff for today's show! We gave you a challenge to see if the babies and toddlers would last an hour and you truly gave the most amazing session! Parent, toddlers and staff members were absolutely amazed!"

Kirsty, The Little Box Co.
